ABOUT Mrs. Hillam

"No other success in life can compensate for a failure in the Home."
Raising our four children is one of my greatest joys:
-
All of our children have attended Dolvin Elementary!
-
One of my favorite pictures--it's a little dated now...
We laugh that three of our children were wearing "Gladiator" sweatshirts in this picture!! Yes-- we show our pride wherever we are!

Philosophy
/ CORE VALUES
01
Children are special and unique. The positive learning experiences they have now can have a lasting effect throughout their lives.
Elementary concepts students learn at this age can be the building blocks to significant acheivement opportunities later.
/ Experience Diversity
02
Each individual is different and the way each of us learn is just as varied. Coordinating different teaching techniques is a key to maximizing a student's optimal learning curve.
03
/ SCHOLARSHIP
I studied elementary education at Brigham Young University. I began my teaching career in Utah where I taught third grade and first grade. This is my 15th year of teaching, and 10th year at Dolvin Elementary.
Interests
01
/ INTERESTS
I keep myself very busy with multiple activities and projects. When I get a chance, I enjoy reading. Two of my favorite books are "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Pride and "Prejudice"--Yes, I'm a romantic! I love exercising, working in my yard, playing the piano and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
/ OTHER INTERESTING FACTS
02
I lived in Brazil for 18 months and speak Portuguese fluently.
/ OUTSIDE OF CLASS
03
I love to spend time with my husband and kids. Our home is a refuge from the busy life we have everywhere else. My oldest daughter is married, graduated, and working as a nurse; my oldest son started a business (zipstring.com) and married in April 2023. My second son is returning to BYU for college and will have his youngest sister at BYU too, as an incoming freshman. This will be our first year as empty nesters!
